IOSH Managing Safely

We offer two modes of study for this course:
IOSH Managing Safely e-learning
A unique web-based training course that you can study when you want, where you want, at the pace you want. Click on the link above for more information and to access the free online sample of the e-learning course.
Includes:
- 24 hours of online study and offline workbooks. Students have three months to complete the course from the day that they first activate it, including submission of their final project.
- Exam registration and fees included.
- Multiple choice exam conducted online upon completion of the course.
- Practical assessment completed in the workplace and submitted within two weeks of the written exam (duration approximately four to six hours).
- Multiple user licences available.

IOSH Managing Safely classroom learning
The course is taught over four days, which can be delivered over a number of weeks on a day-release basis, or in a four-day block. Click on the link above for details of our public course programme and in-house training courses.
Includes:
- Four days’ face-to-face tutoring (consecutive days).
- Exam registration and fees included.
- Revision session and multiple choice exam conducted on the final day of the course.
- Practical assessment completed in the workplace and submitted within two weeks of the written exam (duration approximately four to six hours).
- Up to 20 students per course. Standard 15 students – please contact the Training Department if you wish to exceed this number.
IOSH Managing Safely Refresher
We also run the IOSH Managing Safely Refresher course in London. This course is designed for anyone who has studied the IOSH Managing Safely Course within the last three years who needs to renew their certification (you must take the Refresher less than three years after your original certification date).
Course information
Candidates are formally assessed by means of an examination at the end of the course and a practical workplace-based assessment.
The course structure is flexible and is broad in the range of the health and safety subjects that are taught. It can also be run in-house and tailored to meet the needs of any particular organisation.
By the end of this course successful delegates should be able to:
- know what is meant by the terms 'hazard' and 'risk';
- evaluate risk using a structured risk assessment approach;
- identify and implement appropriate workplace precautions for specific risks or seek advice on workplace precautions;
- be involved in preparing written risk assessments;
- understand and have input into their organisation's health and safety policy and health and safety management system;
- be involved in preparing written risk assessments;
- cooperate and communicate on health and safety matters;
- ensure that their own work and that of the employees for whom they are responsible is carried out safely, i.e. without undue risk to themselves and others;
- report relevant accidents and incidents; and
- identify methods of monitoring how safe their workplaces are.
The course is accredited by IOSH. Delegates will receive an IOSH Managing Safely Certificate after successful completion of the course.
