CDM coordinator

CDM coordinator

The appointment of a competent CDM Coordinator is a statutory requirement on the Client, as required under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007. Our team of qualified construction professionals have years of practical experience across a range of industry sectors. We provide a full health and safety consulting service, capable of delivering major projects as well as implementing systems to support your project team. As your competent CDMC we will support you, the Client, through the whole process from project conception to final handover.

We can assist with the management of all aspects of the CDM Regulations, including contractor competency assessments, the role of the CDM Coordinator, building manuals, design CDM workshops and the development of the Principal Contractor's construction health and safety plans.

The role of CDM Coordinator

As the CDM Coordinator, our role under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007 would be to:

  • Notify the Health and Safety Executive of the Project (F10).
  • Give advice and assistance to the Client on their role and the measures they must take to comply with the Regulations. This will normally be delivered through meeting with the Client – describing their role and their importance to the success of the project.
  • Undertake competence assessments of the Project Design and Principal Contractor team members, where requested by the Client. Workplace Law has developed a quantifiable questionnaire that can be adjusted to suit the specific needs of the Client and the project.
  • Identify health and safety pre-construction information and coordinate information gathering and distribution to the project and design team members. Workplace Law uses an ‘Information Inventory’ to identify the specific information required, who it is required by, when it will be required, how it will be obtained, who is responsible, and, finally, a record of when it was communicated.
  • Facilitate the Health and Safety Designer Risk Management process. Workplace Law uses a hazard inventory register to coordinate the health and safety risk management process, identifying the hazard, who could be affected, the risk, and, most importantly, the mitigation arrangements and communication of the residual risk.
  • Review the successful Principal Contractor’s Construction Health and Safety Plan, particularly in relation to welfare facilities and their consideration of the design health and safety residual risks, and advise the Client on its adequacy.
  • Prepare, where none exists, or otherwise review and update, the health and safety file with information relating to the project that is likely to be needed during any subsequent construction / demolition work.

I really want to thank Workplace Law for the fantastic work you have done on our highly complex project. I know it was not easy to gather all the sensitive information from so many people. Myself and the MD have read the report and are both delighted with the clear and easy to understand way the whole report is laid out. The recommendations were spot on and it certainly helped clarify the issues. I am sure we will be calling on your services again. Thank you.
