Zach,
There are quite a few additional points to note here. One being the 17 week average, another being the UK opt out clause.
You may find this link useful.

Good luck.

Gordon,
Also as a user not producer, my only comment is that I agree.
It seems to me that if we're already doing the whole COSHH thing (control, assessments etc...) then we are compliant with REACH.
Or am I missing something?

In my experience it rather depends on the area in which you are located.
Some have the facilities to deal with more grades of plastic than others. Also, I believe there is a fear of cross contamination from different grades which would render an entire shipment worthless, so there tends to be a 'we only want this' attitude.
The sooner some clear guidance on plastics recycling is issued, the better.

Without wishing to sound 'ageist'. He claims it affects his ability to play football. At 55 I think it may be due to more than a slip on a grape somehow.

Lisa,
Definately the former. Different individuals have different needs, they may work in different environments albeit in the same office, i.e.some may be located in areas where there is more glare than others. Remember it is not just the work station we are assessing but also the environment, the task & the individual. The HSE leaflet 'working with VDU's' should help.

A couple of things:
Of the 54,000 I wonder what the ratio of staff is to volunteers? I guess a volunteer could take any day off if they wanted.
How many National Trust properties are open in February? Not too much of an operational impact I suggest, although admin will need to 'catch up'. I expect they're salaried so won't be paid extra for overtime.

It sounds as though there was no induction or Permit to Work in place either. As you are responsible for the safety of persons on site I suggest this requirement should be communicated to the agency.

Roger,
Affirmative on both. They have also supplied me a copy of their waste carriers licence.

Hi Jenny,
We have a similar situation. We are now in the process of arranging for the supplier to remove the bulbs from site instead of the contractor. So we don't get hit by a double wammy.
