Hi Shane
I fully understand your situation. I have expirienced the same lack of interest by management, until something goes wrong. The management then soon sit - up! As in many cases, the shareholders dividends, and the cost of implementing a stronger Health & Safety culture, is in many managements opinion not a priority. It is a very great shame that some deem to analyse H & S this way.
May I suggest that you make sure all matters relating to Health & Safety are in dicument format. i.e. ( Email / memo / Faxes ) when the time come god forbid, you can then hold them to account because thw law will.
Have you got a Helath & Safety Committee? you can use this committee to carry matters through as it should br minuted!!
Best of Luck
Richard

Hi Grant
You have to be careful if are an equal opprtunities employer, and other members of staff have worked form home. In cases where employees work form home exactly the same laws apply at home as they do in work, during the contracted hours. i.e Risk Assessments is the equipment adequate for carrying out the dempolyees duties i.e DSE, the company also has the insurance factors to consider.
It's not just a case of working form home means I can get up later, or I can go shopping during the contracted hours as this may well constitute a breach of contract if caught. I hope you can sort something out. Regards

Hi
I would like to throw the following situation into the arena as it were.
I would be very grateful to review any comments on the following matter. I am employed as a Facilities Manager, and I am responsible for all the services in a very large building, with a 2million pound budget.
I would like to konw if there is anyone else in the community who is experiencing senior managers not willing to sign any documents that are presented to them. Will not commit themselves to information requests via email, and the General Manager is even more difficult in this way. They will all provide information verbally, and in corridors when passing, but not a thing in writing!!! I have discussed this with HR but they will protect the Senior Manager / General Manager concerned.
I find it very frustrating, and irratable when I consider the large income they all receive. Is anyone else having a similar situation, and can anyone suggest a way of overcoming this situation?
Kind Regards
Richard
I hope you are all having a very Merry Christmas.

Hi delia
Has any risk assessments been carried out on your job / tasks/? Your Head of Health & Safety should be quite worried I would be in there is no evidence of Manual handling Riska Assemments or Safe Working Practices!! delia if you consider the rule of thumb to be for every one pound of weight carried in front by you, it is placing 10 pounds of pressure on your lower spine! You are expected to lift 10KG???? It's a serious issue from the H&S & Muscularskelitol Injuries view.
