As a Company Car driver, I think there is the big incentive of lower BiK.
The personal tax on the car can be halved by choosing a low emission vehicle as I proved by having a Toyota Prius this time round.
Taken with the current £10 per annum Congestion Charge registration fee (and no further charges) it has to make sense especially for those in and around London

A plumbed-in unit, for a few hundred pounds, is, in my opinion, a worthwhile investment for staff, especially in hot weather

Thanks Jem.
I would assume then for the Nurses Home, that the individual's bedroom is ok for smoking (unless, of course, it impacts on others) but the communal areas should be no smoking

We are considering a Hospital wide no smoking policy for Staff, Contractors and Visitors both inside our buildings and in the grounds.
What are the considerations for Staff Accommodation ?
We have a number of self contained flats and a Nurses Home
The Nurses Home has communal corridors, kitchens, bathrooms and sitting rooms together with 80 single bedrooms.
Thank you

We have a Nurses Home (3 floors, max capacity 81 Residents) and a further large house (3 storeys, max capacity 7 Residents)
I am aware that Health Authorities are exempt from HMO licensing.
Although we are not part of the NHS, our business is mainly with the NHS.
All our Residents are our employees and health care workers.
I would be grateful for advice as to whether or not we may be considered exempt.
I have not been able to find an answer via relevant internet sites or a definitive answer from the Local Authority.
Many thanks

If an organisation has major changes planned, underway but not to be finalised prior to April 6th 2006, will the legislation be retrospective ?

If we employ an electrical contractor for commercial work, is he allowed to use non-qualified, although in training, staff to carry out any electrical work ?
The final paragraph of your news item above, would indicate not.
Thank you

I think Philip Jeff's comment is realistic, i.e. heavy snow and care by bike rider, although suspect this would not carry legally

What if no gritting has taken place in the organisation's gounds and say a motorcyclist falls off ?
(Taking into consideration thick snow on the ground)

There is now a nominal charge, but in my opinion, well worth it to get the vehicles removed hassle-free.

Agree with the advice of Dale Collins.
This procedure has worked well for us, with the co-operation of the local council.
We report any untaxed vehicle in our grounds to the council for the appropriate action.
