Yet more policies! - we have too many policies already; they are coming at us all the time. Isn't it time to stop & rethink?

I think you have to ask whether it is elective surgery, or whether it was necessitated by some failing of the persons body which required this treatment.

Incidentally, talking to an eye consultant friend this weekend about laser eye surgery; he would not recommend it!!

It seems to me that laser eye treatment, considered now as cosmetic, cannot be construed as either 'sickness' or 'illness'. This would conclude that the time off is annual or unpaid leave.

We require a signed statement from all employees that they understand their legal obligations in respect of both driving their own vehicles as well as driving the company pool cars. Specifically that they:-

a) have insurance for business use and in particular that the insurance covers 'business' passengers.

b) they possess a valid licence to drive.

c) ensure their vehicle is maintained in a roadworthy condition & it possesses a current MOT Certificate.

Staff are randomly selected and asked to submit eveidence of the above.

Staff who ask if the company will pay the additional premium asked by some insurers for the addition of 'business' to their policy, are reminded that an element of the 40p per mile mileage rate covers this.

I would have thought merely replacing timber & glass doors with PVCu ones would have thrown out any possibility of the organisation having any 'green cred'!!
