Fire Certificates included annotated building plans which showed essential fire safety information on escape routes, fire extinguishers and fire alarms. Fire Risk Assessments could include drawn information but to my experience few providers include for this. As the person responsible for Fire Risk Assessment my approach was to set up a portfolio of fire drawings and to make these available online to those undertiaking assessments, managers and building users. This encourages a common approach with regard to the key elements of fire safety which are concicely defined as General Fire Precautions Article 4 of the FSO.

HSE guidance advises there is no requirement to PAT test a PC and monitor during the first five years of its life, however a visual inspection should be made at 2 and 4 years.
Qustion
Is it acceptable for the user to carry out the visual inspection?
Assume the following checklist is provided to the user:
Is the supply cable frayed or damaged?
Is the cable of an appropriate length and securly comnnected to the appliance?
Is the appliance in good working order, does it switch on and off property?
Is the casing damaged in a way that could damage live parts?
Is the plug, cable or any other part of the appliance overheating?

In the event of fire, lifts should not be used; evacuation chairs are available and university staff are trained to use them. Wheelchair users who depend on lifts would be at greater risk as they become reliant on others.
Would it be 'disability discrimination' to locate a class attended by a wheelchair user to a ground floor rather than an upper floor classroom? (The lift is DDA compliant).
