I need advice on slat walling. I have been informed by a fire officer that the slat walling itself needs to be 0 rated. The wall lining is 0 rated, but does the slat walling need to be 0 rated?
The premises have a sprinkler system and all required fire extinguishers are in place. My suppliers have never supplied 0 rated slat walling; they have only gone to a rating of 1.
The premises is in a shopping centre.

This is a requirement of the Building Regulations Approved Document B2, to inhibit the spread of flame in a fire. You don't say what the material is but special coatings are available in certain circumstances. Class 1 would normally only apply in certain domestic situations, more stringent requirements are naturally applicable in public buildings. The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister web site has guidance on the Building Regs. www.odpm.gov.uk
