Some companies encourage drivers to take further training such as Institute of Advanced Motorists.
This could be done by as a type of open learning (the company pays for the joining & test fee of an IAM group convenientaly placed for the driver. These groups are voluntary clubs affiliated to the IAM and give advice on what a driver needs to do to bring themselves up to advanced standard and let them know when they think they are ready. Another way is through the IAM fleet training. There is also a social side to these groups.
There are of course other organisations that offer additional driver training.
I understand that companies doing this have made substantial savings on staff time off, insurance claims etc.
