I would love work just 48 hours, but my employer will not allow it. Indeed, I would have not been offered the job in the first place, if I didn't agree to opt out. It's alright people saying that it's illegal and that I can work just 48 hours if I want to. But in reality it won't work and I like working where I do. I imagine that there are a lot of people in my position. Of coure more than 40% of workers are opting out. Many have little or no choice due to either their employers demands or their rate of pay which would be seriously impaired if they dropped the number of hours that they worked.
