It has always bothered me that there is a balance also to be struck for the employee. Company cars are taxable benefits, very expensive taxable benefits, whereas private cars are outside the employment equation. An employee cannot be expected to take on the tax liability of a company car simply to enable the employer to be satisfied that the vehicle used is roadworthy. but how to fix this is something for the Chancellor!
