Once agian it has not been thought through. It is just another tax on cars.
To make it work there has to be an alternative which is cheaper than the car (if you live outside London you still need a car to get to the station) is reliable and safe. It has to be attractive to use. At present public transport is non of those things.
The same thing applies to the proposed motorway charges. It will just drive traffic on to already crowded alternative routes.
The Government needs realists (there are one or two but not enough) and not idealists to be involved in working parties on co-ordinated transport policies. (That is my perception and others that I have talked to)-I volunteer
