Would it not be fitting to have a moden War Memorial to our brave men and women who are still being killed every day in conflitcs all around the world.
All areound whitehall and horseguards parade there are memorials to other wars and conflicts but not one as a tribute to our current fallen heroes, I think the spare plinth should be used for this and we should not wait until 30 years time before the govenment decide to errect one.
I know there will be those wonderful do gooders who will come out of the wood work and object, but years ago they managed it so why not now, prople had more pride in our counrty then than they do now, but young men and women are still dying in the name of the Queen.
So we should not be put off by wacky groups who just want to object on the grounds that it will offend someone somewhere. They like use are all allowed to live the lives we do because of what our Army, Navy, and Airforce do every day, the least we can do is to give their loved ones somewhere to go that is in a prominant position in London, and show that their loss is just as important as previous ones.
