Yes, this was Workplace Law Network's April Fools' Day story - in fact, 'Avril' is French for April and 'Wariat' is Polish for fool. Aren't we funny?!

I wonder whether this woman wore a clown costume to the interview for this job. My guess would be that she did not.

The other matter I am pondering is the nature of her work. Surely 'clown shoes' present an H&S issue wherever she may be working (she may trip or trip a colleague).

This is taking the micky.

Surely, if an organisation wants to project a professional image, especially with their sales staff, the tribunal should have favoured them in this case? Many organisations do not allow football colours but if tribunals are favouring 'clownism' what is going to stop them favouring 'Arsenalism' or 'etc.etc Come on people, surely this is going a little too far? Companies are putting people in employment and keeping the economy afloat, surely they have some rights themselves regarding their own company image? I feel that so called religions such as 'Clownism' belittles actual recognised religions and it sounds like this one was made up on a night out and scribbled on the back of a cigarette packet ! I can't believe they actually wasted money on this case at all.

Clownism is real, and practiced by a great many individuals in my experience. I respect their right to make complete fools of themselves everytime they open their mouth. It is what makes life interesting...

Claire, it is humbling to see that you have taken this prank so seriously with the photo of you in the hat, scarf and comedy hair!

I was completely taken in by this.

Is the article factually correct though, I mean the point about a philosophical believe being equivalent to a religious one?

If so, is this something that could genuinely happen with a football fan?

Great piece guys!

Haven't laughed so much for a while , shame it wasn't a true story that would have been even funnier. Watch out though this time next year it will be a true story!!
