Absolutely ridiculous. How on earth can the proposed posters and leaflets 'still provide employees with the information they need' when the employer is not required to update or amend them?
I agree with the rationale behind the other changes; in particular the need for it to be understood by visually impaired employees and those for whom English is a second language etc. But taken on it's own, no poster is going to work as well as it should. It needs to remain one tool with a whole box of sources of information.
It concerns me immensely that the review found that in some businesses they 'may provide the only obvious source of health and safety information'. Come on people! What is the problem? It's businesses like these that need to feel the full force of law. I can only see this as further watering down an already weak enforcement situation.

I don't suppose the new ones will be available free of charge in exchange for the old?
Thought not...more expense!

No wonder the ABI (Association of British Insurers) is negotiating with Government to establish a "hedge fund" for 'as yet unknown' harm that may be found to be caused by DSE (Display Screen Equipment), mobile phones, office lighting or environment as stressors that may result in another asbestos like health and financial disaster over the next 30 years.
Perhaps, they are also concerned that they are going to have to deal with more and more Health & Safety claims surrounding problems relating to limited or poor "access to text" as a disability where contributory neglegence is going to be found against the employer if they have not ensured the employee has minimum "Functional or Digital Literacy skills" ?
