This is excellent news, having been involved with the development of health and safety culture in local schools the sooner it becomes part of the National Carriculium the better.
We should also not forget the needs of Teaching Staff and School Governors etc as many have no background in Health and Safety.
Finally, we now need to get employers on board, IOD, CBI, FSB , Sector Skills Councils etc.

Hear, hear! The next step should be to educate school leavers in financial matters (APR's, bank accounts etc), their rights at work and the reasons for joining a trade union.
We may then look forward to a more responsible, socially aware, educated society...

Great but also be rather handy if they could actually READ their employee induction manual or hand book let alone health and safety material but, perhaps as Unions press government to make the development of Basic Skills training maditory in private company bids to deliver £115 billion worth of public services it may overcome systemic failures in education.
Just a shame responsibility for addressing the problems of the functionally illiterate has to be shifted from schools to employers........ ho hum
