Does the EFA think experience counts for nothing?
They are losing sight of the fact this is a MINIMUM wage.
If 20-year olds really are doing the same job, with the same qualifications and same work experience, they have an argument for their wage to increase from the minimum. But pay a 18- year old school leaver the same as a 22 year-old who has been doing the job for a while, and the 22-year old will soon be demanding extra pay because of their added experience.

As a company, we have always paid at least RPI wage increases over recent years. This year, we were forced to pay a rise due to NMW at a time of accepting voluntary redundancies. As NMW has risen by 60% since inception, while the RPI has risen 30% over the same period, I would hope that this escalation does not continue to erode the competativeness of the UK and follows more closely the trend in RPI.
