Why when Screen Fatigue and Eye Strain are reported by the majority of DSE operators (58% according to HSE RR561 2007) and may in fact be causational in a range of MSD's due to inability to sustain ideal ergonomic position are there no sample 'case studies' offering 'reasonably practicable' mitigative actions?
As those who experience Screen Fatigue may also be at increased risk of VD (Vigilance Decremation), or in other words, a reduced capacity to concentrate fully on work tasks that could not only result in simple errors but also leave the operator more vulnerable to mishaps like slips and trips for some time after they have finished working on-screen.
As this is currently the subject of a research study commissioned by the S.M.A.R.T. Foundation in partnership with a local south coast university we should be to follow comments here and be happy to hear of your experiences and/or comments on the subject that may be sent to me nigeldupree@btinternet.com
