Tribal discrimination is global and does not need to be National as the War of the Roses is still alive and well 'up-north' between the Lancashire & Yorkshire let alone Portsmouth & Southampton City FC's or any number of even closer villages.
The essence of equall opportunity is that it does not positively discriminate for or against anyone and is genuinely "non-judgmental" equitable, even handed or open minded in terms of any decission making.
It is the most challenging and interesting intellectual task that is very, very difficult to achieve as it requires a ' counter intuative ' thought process to ensure that desissions or judgments are not coloured by our own emotional responses or experiences to any given situation in order to separate professional from personal beliefs. (In fact the difference between belief & knowledge)
"Talking the talk" and presenting an 'on message' politically correct professional ideology is easy but where this remains coloured by our personal ideologies that are naturally at odds with our more intuative personal, tridal or societal beliefs actually 'walking the walk' requires constant self-vigilance, challenging and on-going self-assessment.
Realigning personal and professional ideologies remains the challenge for all of us as without exception we all belong to some part of this Global village........
