Stress related fatigue has to have a profound affect on performance let alone the increased risk of simple 'errors' and/or 'mishaps' like slips and trips in the workplace you would not intuitively expect or think likely of someone who is normally allert, with a sense of well-being and engaged in any given task.
So why is it so surprising that increased demand on HR should result in any less failures to perform or break downs than in any other equipment or machinary running at full chat for a prolonged period without planned maintenance ?
Sure, "if it ain't broke don't fix it" may have been an acceptable 'policy' in the past where production machinery was a liitle overengineered and a bent actuater may be fixed with a large hammer but in the 21st century asset management requires a little more finese if it is to be truly solution focused and reduce the ever present risk of collateral damage to human resources.
