Pliny the elder said in 77ad that he was concerned about young slaves dying in the asbestos mines from chest related complaints. This was two years before he died when he commanded a ship's captain to sail to Pompeii to allow himto observe the volcanic eruption.
Basically there has been anecdotal evidence about the dangers of asbestos for over 100 years.
We need to be far more militant regarding this dangerous substance. Next month there will be a national campaign about the dangers. Lets support this wherever we can.
