The relevant legislation that governs the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is the Climate Change Act 2008, which was enacted in November 2008 in order to give the UK a legally binding long-term framework to cut carbon emissions.  This is implemented through the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme Order 2010 SI 768 and the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (Amendment) Order 2011 SI 234.
