- The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment) is the UK's mandatory climate change and energy saving scheme, which aims to improve energy efficiency and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions in the UK.
- The scheme started in April 2010 and is regulated by the Environment Agency.
- It is central to the UK’s strategy for improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 by at least 80% compared with emissions in 1990, as set out in the Climate Change Act 2008.
- It will affect large organisations in the private and public sectors, especially at senior level, and aims to encourage changes in behaviour and infrastructure.
