Widow launches asbestos-cancer compensation claim

    The widow of a man who died from asbestos-related cancer is launching a lawsuit to seek compensation.

    Sheila Alsop of Iron Acton in Gloucestershire believes her husband Lionel developed the condition while employed as an apprentice carpenter for Wilkins and Coventry in Bristol between 1953 and 1963.

    His death from mesothelioma came just months into his retirement in 2005.

    Ms Alsop told the Gazette:
