Health and safety case highlights company responsibility for third parties

    A recent case at the Old Bailey has highlighted how a company’s responsibility for third parties on their premises needs to be taken seriously.

    The Metropolitan Police will be fined after accepting responsibility for failing to ensure the safety of two schoolboys who drowned in a police swimming pool five years ago.

    Gameli Akuklu, 14, and William Kadama, 15, had gone to the pool as part of a youth scheme in July 2002. They drowned in the deep end of the pool after the lifeguard... (440 more words)
