The Working Time Regulations 1998 (“the Regulations”) currently entitle workers to four weeks' paid leave per year (pro-rated for part -time employees).
With effect from 1 October 2007, this entitlement will increase to 4.8 weeks and by 1 October 2008, it will be 5.6 weeks (subject to a maximum of 28 days). The increase is designed to reflect the workers’ entitlement to all eight UK bank holidays, although there is no requirement for leave to be taken on these days.
