Employees believe they deserve to take a ‘sickie’

One in 10 workers have gone off sick in the past two years, while more than half a million employees have taken more time off than they were entitled to, a report has claimed.

In the poll, by Direct Line Travel Insurance, thousands of employees admitted to having taken more time off than they are due, without their employer knowing. Most of those asked believed that they deserved more paid holidays or the "odd" sick day.
