Guidance for Volunteers

    Date:

Twenty-two million people in Britain take part in voluntary or charity work every year, many of them working in charity shops, local fetes, conservation projects or visiting people in their own homes. The HSE has now provided guidance specifically aimed at these volunteers to protect paid staff and volunteers in relation to manual handling, work-related violence and stress. Other areas where organisers or employers may need more information relate to first aid requirements, employers' liability insurance and protection against noise and hearing damage. The guidance, produced by the HSE in partnership with the Charities Safety Group (CSG), is available from HSE books priced £12.00, together with a video priced £25.00.
