‘Designing out’ fire could save

    Insurers have called for changes to be made to the Building Regulations to include a "fire safety management standard" at the design stage.

    The Association of British Insurers (ABI) claimed that currently over one third of fires resulted from poor fire safety management. Its research also showed that the annual cost of fires could be reduced by as much as £34 million if the regulations were altered.
