10 years on from the DDA – past, present and future

This month the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 celebrates its tenth anniversary. The act has been introduced in stages over the last decade and, following the second DDA in 2005, further major provisions are coming into effect at the end of this year and 2006.

The last decade has seen progress for disabled people in securing their rights - in employment, education, and concerning access to shops and all other types of services that non-disabled people have always had. For example:
