Small and medium sized businesses are being warned about a fake invoice scam targeting employees during the summer months, when senior management is away on holiday.
The Advertising Standards Authority has expressed concerns over "rogue traders" who take advantage of managementâs absence and trick junior employees into paying what looks like an urgent invoice. By paying this, the company actually signs up to a contract that forces it to continue paying for years.
