In the first case of its kind in Northern Ireland a safety expert and the company he advised were fined for breaching health and safety legislation which led to the death of 52-year-old machinist, Norman McCord.
The case arose out of an incident on 7 September 2009 at Miskelly Brothers Ltd block making yard at Moss Road, Ballygowan, when an employee of the company, Mr Norman McCord, was fatally crushed when making adjustments to a block strapping machine.
