Redundancy: bumping explained

To reduce redundancy costs and retain highly valued employees, employers should consider "bumping" redundancies.

In broad terms, a redundancy situation exists where there is an actual or expected reduction or cessation of a requirement for work of a particular kind. The concept of bumping allows employees who do work of a different kind to be dismissed for redundancy in that situation.
