On 10 June 2009 the House of Lords gave judgment in the long running case of Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs v. Stringer. The key issues arising in the case were (1) whether workers are entitled to take holiday while they are off sick and (2) whether workers who have been off sick for the whole or part of a leave year are entitled to be paid in lieu of untaken holiday on termination of employment.
