Abolishment of DRA

The Default Retirement Age (DRA) has been in the headlines of late. The Heyday challenge to employers' ability to compulsorily retire employees upon reaching the DRA was finally resolved by the High Court in September 2009. The decision was that both the DRA itself and the setting of it at 65 was lawful. However, the High Court was at pains to point out that had the Government not been reviewing the DRA this year, its decision may have been different.
