Sprinklers should be considered as merely one component part of a total fire safety strategy, which is tailored to the existing and projected needs of a building. They have significant benefits to offer in suppressing fire until those best trained to deal with major incidents are on the scene to extinguish them. Sprinklers, however, are an emotive topic.
