A former employee of British Rail and First Engineering has been awarded £212,830 at Edinburgh's Court of Session, in compensation for loss of earnings, reports Safety News. James McKenna has been unable to continue working as a railway man following his exposure to levels of vibration "in excess of the safe levels of exposure then recommended by the HSE", (Lady Smith).

His Vibration White Finger condition has led McKenna to avoid exposing his hands to cold temperatures, which exacerbate the problem.
