    Two thirds of people in the UK believe that there should be a new law of corporate killing, according to a MORI poll for the Transport and General Workers’ Union (TGWU).

    The finding lends support to calls for the Government to introduce new legislation to create the offence of corporate killing.

    Other key findings from the MORI poll were that:

    - nearly two-thirds of people believe company directors should be able to be prosecuted for a serious criminal offence like manslaughter;

    - one in four people say they have worked for employers who have broken the laws concerned with health and safety at work - 40 per cent of these say that someone was injured or killed as a result; and,

    - sixty-five per cent support the introduction of a corporate killing law and the same number believe workplace safety will only improve if directors can be prosecuted.
