The Workplacelaw Network has published new guidance to help employers implement a smoking at work policy and meet their legal obligations.
Smoking at Work Policy and Management Guide version 1.0 (ISBN 1-900648-65-2, £34.99) contains a model policy document, which employers can customise for their own needs, and comprehensive management guidance to help them develop and police their own smoking at work policy. The document and guidance are published in association with law firm Orchard.
Gerallt Owen of Orchard Solicitors, who wrote and reviewed the policy and guidance, commented:
"Smoking in the workplace is an evocative issue which is best dealt with through implementing a written policy. We are pleased to work with the Workplacelaw Network to produce a standard policy on smoking at work which businesses can adapt for their own needs."
