Government Says "No" to New Smoking Restrictions

    Date:

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is reporting that the Government will not be implementing new measures restricting smoking in public places and protecting hospitality workers passively inhaling smoke during their shifts. This is despite renewed calls for increased controls from the British Medical Association, ASH, and the Chartered Institute for Environmental Health.

The Government - according to the report - has cited the various legal complications associated with legislative action as one of the reasons behind the Government’s preference for more voluntary measures to tackle the problem.
