A London council worker who took part in running competitions whilst off sick from work with a bad back has been found guilty of defrauding his employers, it has been reported.
Matthew Thomas, was signed off sick with a bad back from November 2007 until his resignation in June 2008. During that time he was paid sick pay totalling £13,892.12 after telling bosses at Newham Council where he worked as a payroll officer that he had fallen off a ladder and injured his back.
