More and more employers are drawing up workplace policies dealing with office romances, according to a report in The Independent newspaper.

The survey found that the number of employers drawing up such a policy has doubled in the last two years, and that one in ten employers asks workers to declare an office romance. Nearly a third of employers are considering introducing a formal policy.

The legal implications of office romances can include sexual harrassment charges, and unfair promotions/pay rises/dismissals. Employers are also concerned about the impact of office romances on productivity and team spirit, according to the survey.

How does you organisation manage these potentially difficult situations? Do you think that office romances have a positive or a negative impact? Please comment below.
