Kitchen porter receives jail sentence for fraudulent working

    A kitchen porter at Harrogate District Hospital who came to the UK on a student visa and was never entitled to work full-time has been sentenced to 9 months’ imprisonment, suspended for two years, and 200 hours of Unpaid Community Work for defrauding the NHS.

     

    Benjamin Simbarasi got his job as a kitchen porter with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust by lying about his identity. He earlier pleaded guilty to a charge of Obtaining a Pecuniary Advantage.
