A bakery worker has received £3,000 compensation after she cut her hand so badly she required plastic surgery. Winnie Farley, a packer at the Peter Hunt Bakery in Bolton, caught her hand on the frayed edge of a conveyor belt. Her hand was dragged under the belt, causing severe lacerations to her little finger requiring plastic surgery. Mrs Farley's legal representative, Paul Hatfield of law firm Irwin Mitchell, said the £3,000 compensation has been awarded because "Mrs Farley was in great pain during and after the incident and was off work for nine weeks, so the compensation will be recompense for the suffering she endured." Mrs Farley has returned to work at the bakery.
