A new professional body for air quality management is being launched today, and has been welcomed by Urban Quality of Life Minister Alun Michael.

Speaking during a special meeting of the UK dispersion model users' group, Alun Michael said the new Institute of Air Quality Management had a key role to play in raising the profile of air quality. He also emphasised the Government's commitment to improving air quality:

"Air quality is something we take very seriously. It affects people's quality of life and their health. That is why it is so important that we all do what we can to help keep levels of air pollution as low as possible," he said.

If you are involved in air-quality management in the workplace and would like to know more, please call the DEFRA helpline, tel. 08459 335577.
