Environment Agency Disappointed at Low Level of Fines

The Environment Agency in Wales has expressed its disappointment at a number of recent court decisions which imposed "surprisingly low" fines on people who had committed waste offences.

In one case at Cardiff Crown Court highlighted by the Agency, three people and a limited company, convicted of offences associated with the operation of an illegal landfill site and waste transfer centre, received fines which together amounted to less that £1,000.
