Whether the General Election on Thursday 6 May results in a hung Parliament or in a clear majority for any one party, employers could be forgiven for thinking the only big issue affecting them is Labour’s proposed 1% rise in National Insurance in 2011 for anyone earning over £20,000, which the Tories, backed by a number of prominent businesses, have opposed.
