Violence at work: Prison officers stabbed by inmate

    Three prison officers at a high-security prison in County Durham have been stabbed by an inmate this weekend. The assault, involving a broken bottle, happened on Saturday morning. None of the injured officers is critically ill.

     

    It is believed that the officers – two male and one female – were attacked as they opened a cell door at the prison.  The incident is now subject to a police investigation.
