Plans to crack down on dangerous dogs welcomed

    Plans to toughen existing laws to protect the public from dangerous dogs, unveiled this week, have been welcomed for the protection they could bring to workers.

    The current Dangerous Dogs Act does not cover attacks on private property where a dog is permitted to be, leaving victims who have been attacked to seek recourse through the civil courts. These victims have included postal workers, telephone engineers and other employees who visit the public.
