Yesterday, Liberal Democrat peers, Lord Wallace and Lord Lester, made another bid to scrap the default retirement age (DRA) at the end of 2011 as part of the upcoming Equality Bill. Currently employers are allowed to force workers to retire once they reach the age of 65, and some weeks ago Lord Lester proposed to scrap the DRA, but then withdrew his proposal in order not to extend debate on the Bill, at that stage.
